Obituary of Arthur Shenkin

Arthur F. Shenkin, 82, passed away suddenly on June 23, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. Art will forever be remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for his zest for life, smile, sense of humor, generosity, sensitivity, and brilliance, which brought so much joy to the family. Art Shenkin was born August 28, 1932 in Jersey City, N.J. and grew up in The Bronx, N.Y. When he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1952, he met Gerre Willard who became his wife of 61 years. Upon graduation, Art served in the United States Army as an accountant. Afterward, he began work as a CPA, founding the well-known accounting firm of Shenkin, Kurtz and Baker. Art was president of the CPA Society of Colorado as well as President and Treasurer of many other organizations. He and Gerre shared their love of the outdoors for more than 50 years at Grand Lake, CO, where the whole family enjoyed many wonderful summers together. Art facilitated many courses at OLLI at D.U. With the untimeliness of his death, his life would seem too short for many, especially to Art's immediate family and his numerous friends who were blessed to know him. However, those who were touched by him understood that the quality of his life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Art is survived by his wife Gerre; three daughters Diana, Chaya Brocha, and Bonnie; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Service, Thursday, 1:00pm, Feldman Mortuary Chapel; interment Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Ascent of Zefat, Israel, 383 Kingston Ave., Brooklyn, N. Y. 11213
